Owned by brothers, Ronnie and Donnie Coulter, Rolling Hills Vineyard & Winery opened for business March 27, 2004. The Coulters take pride in the historical journey that led to the Winery’s opening. Originally, the Rolling Hills Vineyard was a 21 acre tobacco farm, but with the decreasing demand for the tobacco crop, the Coulter’s decided to pursue a new venture. Friends and family had always encouraged them to produce and sell their wine commercially so everyone could enjoy the family recipe – so they decided to open a winery in Springfield, KY!
Even though Washington County, Kentucky is a dry county, Rolling Hills Vineyard and Winery made history when it was the first winery in Kentucky to receive "voter’s approval" to sell wine at an on-site premise! The winery’s tasting room and production building was then built by the Coulter family, using yellow poplar lumber harvested from the family farm.
The wine recipe used today originated with Ronnie and Donnie’s grandparents, and has been handed down through the generations. To honor the history of the wine, the Rolling Hills Vineyard & Winery label proudly displays their grandparent’s home.
“We appreciate our customers and the great support from everyone. It has been a pleasure meeting so many new and great people!” The Coulters
